Privacy Policy

Who we are

Our website address is: https://www.youpharmacy.com

What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Contact forms

The purpose of a contact form is to allow someone to contact you. If a website visitor has a question or a comment, you obviously need to respond to them to answer that question or comment and that is why contact forms collect information such as names, emails, and addresses.

This information is called Personally Identifiable Information, or PII for short, as it can be used to identify a particular person.

Due to intense pressure from consumers, some countries and states have implemented privacy laws to protect the privacy rights of consumers. These laws apply to certain websites that collect PII through, for example, contact forms. One of the main requirements of these laws is for websites to have a Privacy Policy that discloses:

  • What PII is collected;
  • How that PII is used; and
  • Who that PII is shared with.

While these are the main sections of a Privacy Policy, privacy laws have a litany of other disclosures that must be made as well.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Analytics

As soon as your website begins to collect any personal data you are then required by law to have a privacy policy. As cookies collect this personal information and send that information to you, you are now required to have a compliant privacy policy.

Most international laws will require you to have the privacy policy in place and disclose your use of Google Analytics. These laws include General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), California Online Privacy Act (CalOPPA), California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), and the Australian Privacy Act 1988.

Who we share your data with

We do not, and will not, sell any of your personal data to any third party. This is vital to us ensuring we maintain the trust you have in us and in order to maintain the privacy of your data.

From time to time however we may need to share your personal data with service providers, such as marketing agencies, advertisers, recruitment agencies, website hosts and other technology providers that help us to manage and facilitate our operations and provide essential services to our community and customers.

These third party service providers are not permitted to use or disclose your personal data except as necessary to perform services on our behalf or to comply with legal requirements.

In addition, we may disclose information about you:

  • If we are required to do so by law or legal process;
  • To law enforcement authorities or other government officials;
  • When we believe disclosure is necessary or appropriate to prevent physical harm or financial loss or in connection with an investigation of suspected or actual illegal activity;
  • If disclosure is necessary to protect the vital interests of a person;
  • To enforce our Terms of use;
  • To protect our property, services and legal rights;
  • To prevent fraud against Cynozure and/or business partners;
  • To support auditing, compliance, and corporate governance functions; or
  • To comply with any and all applicable laws.

We maintain processes designed to ensure that any processing of personal data by third party service providers is consistent with this Privacy Policy and protects the confidentiality, availability, and integrity of your personal data.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where we send your data

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

How we protect your data

Personal data shall be subject to additional safeguards to ensure this data is processed securely. For example, we work hard to ensure data is encrypted when in transit and storage, and access to this data will be strictly limited to a minimum number of individuals and subject to confidentiality commitments.

We will take all steps reasonably necessary to ensure that your data is treated securely and in accordance with this Policy. Unfortunately, the transmission of information via the internet is not completely secure. Although we will do our best to protect your personal data, we cannot guarantee the security of your data transmitted to any of our websites; any transmission is at your own risk. Once we have received your information, we will use strict procedures and security features to try to prevent unauthorised access. When possible, encryption is used, both in transit and storage. Access controls within the organisation limit who may access information.

Our Action Platform is hosted on Exabytes, so we rely in part on these third parties to protect the data you provide through it. When you donate to us, third party payment processors collect your data and process the payment, and interact with your bank or credit card issuer. At any moment, you can change or delete that data. If you ask for your preferences to change or for data to be deleted, we keep a record that we deleted your data, e.g. (in an analogue way) “taipan.youpharmacy@gmail.com has unsubscribed from our fundraising notifications and removed his country of residence.”

We never transfer your data outside of the Malaysia unless we have your explicit consent for it, or on the basis of specific safeguards in individual circumstances of which we’ll let you know if they apply to your data.

What data breach procedures we have in place

We may use your information as part of our efforts to keep our site safe and secure (for example, for fraud monitoring and prevention). We use a number of security methods and services to assist in the prevention of data breach.

What third parties we receive data from

We may share your data with third party vendors, service providers, contractors or agents who perform services for us or on our behalf and require access to such information to do that work. Examples include: payment processing, data analysis, email delivery, hosting services, customer service and marketing efforts. We may allow selected third parties to use tracking technology on the Sites, which will enable them to collect data about how you interact with the Sites over time. This information may be used to, among other things, analyze and track data, determine the popularity of certain content and better understand online activity. Unless described in this Policy, we do not share, sell, rent or trade any of your information with third parties for their promotional purposes.
